Safety & Security Committee

Chairman
Mr. Michael Chirino

A student of the Financial & Security Industries, I became interested in Asgardia when I learned of the first satellite launch and of how the Nation is focused on research to improve humanity’s ability to survive for extended periods of time in the harsh environment of space.

Given the rate at which we are consuming our planet’s resources and expanding our population, I believe it is important that we overcome certain key challenges in this field in order to give our species its best chance at long term survival.  Some of these goals are a long way off, which is what makes it so important that we start today.

I believe that Defense, Education and Nutrition are the pillars of success for Asgardia. Healthy nutrition means a healthy and strong nation. A poorly educated people are a conquered people. Education for all Asgardians must be freely accessible from kindergarten to university. Asgardia’s defense – from physical to cyber – shouldn’t be taken lightly. As someone with past military experience,

I think physical training should learn lessons from Chinese and American models. Cyber Defense is even more important for us, as we are a fully digital nation, which means we have to ensure that every Asgardian’s digital information is safe and secure. These are not easy tasks. I believe the combined experience of AMPs will help us ensure the success of the first space nation.

The emergence, formation and prosperity of the state of Asgardia is an unprecedented phenomenon in the history of human society. It is the most viable way to create a just society of the future with a clean slate. Having the experience of living on Earth, we have the opportunity to learn from mistakes. It’s a long road – and though not always an easy way I hope you join us.

I want Asgardia to be recognised in the international arena; creating a legal framework for civil society; forming structures of the state of Asgardia; creating a unique financial payment system operating for the benefit of Asgardia. I have specialised education and experience in communication with representatives of state structures, and clearly understand what our new State should and should not be.

100 years ago space for the inhabitants of the earth was something unattainable and unexplored. But today, many branches of the national economy are or will be connected in some way with the space industry. I’m really interested in the development of entrepreneurship of Asgardians in the field of space technology. I’m also really into developing mechanisms for commercialisation, and the attraction of private capital.

I’ve had many occasions to speak publicly from poetry meetings to educational presentations.  I’m skilled in public relations due to both training in college and practical experience.  I’ve led many teams over the years on research projects. I’ve experience in politics. In order for Asgardia to be able to move forward, we have to be able to look, not to the short term goals – though those are important – but to the long term.

We’re doing this to see that Asgardia lives on long after the first generation of Asgardia’s politicians. While we benefit in some part from this endeavour, our descendants will see Asgardia’s true potential and know it in a way that, right now, we can only dream of.  And it is for their dream, the dream of those not yet born, that I do this.

Documentary films are how people all over the world can learn about things they would otherwise never see. I am an amateur documentary filmmaker, and I want to film other planets and everything else in space. These films will show the world that Asgardia’s mission is serious and essential. Seeing other planets will inspire people to join us. Let’s dream of outer space together!

I worked as an Officer focused on maintaining peace, security and safety within correction centres and federal prison systems. I got involved in Asgardia, when I read a message that said ‘ Asgardia, the Space Nation, is for all people no matter how old, who want to live in space!’ That interested me and I signed up straight away to become a Member of Parliament. Because of my previous experience, I decided to devote myself to Asgardia’s Safety and Security Committee. I believe that we can peacefully live as one without any weapons, as our constitution dictates.
